Northumbrian History

This page allows you to access two different ways of viewing Northumbrian history. The Overview is a written account of the whole century with key points mentioned and a general view of what happened. The Timeline is a year by year account of what occured within that century. There is more information within the Overview, but specific events are easier to find within the Timeline.

Each page basically covers a single century, but in order to cover events properly the start and finish dates may be slightly over or under the 100 years (e.g. Waltheof was Earl of Bamburgh 975-1006 so instead of leaving the last 6 years of his life for the 11th Century section, they will be included in the 10th.)
