6th Century Timeline

The majority of the information is historically accurate, though World of Darkness events are marked by italics and events that I have added are marked in red. As Northumbria was formed from two other Kingdoms - Deira and Bernicia and as such was occasionally ruled by two kings, the years in which Northumbria was ruled buy a single king are highlighted blue.

Ida the Flamebearer takes the Celtic settlement of Din Guyardi and fortifies it with a palisade and hedge.
550 Northumbria: Ida

Ida the Flamebearer has become an overking of the North following a conquest of neighbouring territories including land south of the Tees.
560 Northumbria: Ida/Aelle I

Deira: Aelle I
Aelle, an Anglian chief, is conducting his people against the native Britons in Deira (The Yorkshire Wolds). Aelle is the first king of Deira.
568 Bernicia: Aelle I/Aethelric

Urien, the leader of the British kingdom of Rheged (Cumbria), besieges King Theodoric of Bernicia on the island of Lindisfarne. The siege lasts three days.

590 Northumbria: Hussa The Siege of Ynys Metcaut (Lindisfarne). The Northern British Alliance (North Rheged, Strathclyde, Bryneich and Elmet) lays siege to King Hussa of Bernicia and almost exterminates the Northumbrians from Northern Britain. Urien the leader of the northern Britons is murdered on Lindisfarne. He was betrayed by Morgan, a leader of the Goddodin tribe from Edinburgh. The Northumbrians recover while internal squabbles tear the British Alliance apart.
593 Northumbria: Hussa/Aethelferth
 
598 Northumbria: Aethelferth Anglo-Saxons heavily defeat the native Britons at Catterick. The ancient British tribal kingdom of Catraeth was based in the valleys of the Tees and Swale and was subdued by the Germanic Angles.
